I manage an Air BB listing for one of my bossed homes. I had to twist her arm to let me have the 4 units purchased/installed. She didn't see the need for it and was happy with the $30 programmable thermostats...Today was a very busy day in the office. I got an alert on my phone informing me that all 4 zones had reached 45 degrees. I took a trip over to the property to check out what was happening. When I walked into the boiler room, I could hear the furnace making an odd noise. It kept igniting and then going out. I got nervous so I hit the main power switch for the heating system and immediately called our local energy company.Turns out what the furnace was doing was EXTREMELY dangerous. The service tech told me that it could have blown up if left unattended for long enough. The pipes also would have frozen as it's been pretty damn cold up here in Vermont. We have $15,000 in bookings for the next two months and would have had to cancel them if the pipes burst - not to mention the headache of having to deal with insurance, and repair. My boss is now (as of today) VERY PRO GOOGLE.Thank you, Nest for saving the property!
