I've been using taxi cab services to get around in my town for a while (live in Alabama but can't drive), but I'm heavily considering swapping to Uber. Is there anything I should really know or be aware of going into this (tipping and etiquette, expectations, etc). that might be different from a taxi service? Also, is there any reason to specifically use Uber over Lyft (or some other similar service if it exists)?
Also, on a related note, how much data does the Uber app require on a smartphone for a rider? Getting a smartphone soon (lack of one has been why I haven't been using Uber), and I'm trying to figure this out for setting up the data plan.
