How do you allow users who are not your friend to send you messages privately?

I’ve been trying to post a sublease for my apartment on several Facebook groups, however, I noticed that my profile is not public and the Message button is not enabled for people who are not my friend. This is prohibiting me from getting messages from people who are interested in the apartment.I’ve tried googling and YouTubing solutions, but have not found a resolution to this problem. Some YouTube videos suggested me to make sure my age on Facebook is over 14 years old (which it is and has been). Some videos also suggested me to go to Setting - General - Messages/Messaging, but ‘Messages’/‘Messaging’ isn’t an option/listed.Does someone know how to make your profile public? / Know how to enable messaging so that people who are not your friends can message you?If anyone can help out or provide insight, I would really appreciate it.
