Non-VR players on VR

So my friend said that by now I have probably learned that it is not a good idea to buy the first consumer version of new technology (referring to the fact that I had bought Oculus rift CV1 a few years ago), as it has many flaws and newer much better versions will come shortly after. I couldn't say I agreed. Although I have bought a new VR system now, I have had lots of fun with the first one, and I don't feel like the new versions are so much better that I should have forgone 2,5 years of VR fun for it. It baffled me to see how none VR players view the market. I have seen this kind of attitude towards VR several places. A friend of mine says he likes it, but will wait for VR to reach 5th generation... 5TH! PlayStation haven't event gotten that far yet. And in a gaming podcast in my country one of the host says that the best game he as tried in VR is Steam "The Lab" archery. While I agree it is a good experience, it doesn't give the impression that he has tried a lot. He also says that VR need to be as easy as Switch to turn on and off.. which I kinda feel the Quest is. I don't know, I just feel like a lot of people talk about VR, doesn't really know much about it, even gaming podcast. I suppose this is old new, but I just needed to rant a bit about it.Does anyone else have similar experiences?
