TL;DR: I don’t want an Oculus because I don’t like or trust FaceBook, what’s the best option for SteamVR in Australia (ideally with the knuckles controllers)?I want to play Half Life: Alyx. It also seems like VR might finally be maturing as a platform, with Boneworks and the new Walking Dead game both looking very good as well. I was an early adopter, and I used to have an Oculus CV1 but it doesn’t work very well anymore. Not sure what the problem is but when playing games the headset gets super hot and the games start to drop to like 20fps and stutter like crazy. I’ve got an RTX 2070 Super and a Ryzen 3600 so I’m sure it’s not my PC (which runs normal games fine at 1440p).Either way I’m not looking to repair my Rift, over the past few years I’ve become a bit more conscious of my privacy and online presence. I don’t want to be around for the day where I have to have a FaceBook account to use an Oculus product. I’d rather switch over to SteamVR, and ideally I’d want an Index but we got the short end of the stick here in Australia. I could import one but I’d rather not put my faith in a third party for that.One option is the Pimax which ships globally and comes with base stations 2.0 and the Index controllers (knuckles). I’ve seen different opinions on the Pimax headset, what’s the general consensus though?
