Sometimes links to other FB pages work, sometimes not, and I have to include full url

I recently made a couple FB posts, with links to other FB pages, which I did by typing @otherpage (not the actual name). First time worked fine, but second time, typing the exact same characters, the other page doesn't show up. The only way I could get it to work was by typing: https://ift.tt/2NdTNjP ideas how to force FB to link to other FB pages without typing full URL?
