Troubleshooting Help: Removing page likes functionality hasn't been working for me for months. Anyone else?

I've been trying to remove spammy Facebook fan page likes from my page for months now. Per Facebook Help instructions, you navigate to "settings" then to "people and other pages" then tick the box next to the name you want removed, click the gear wheel at the top of the list and select "remove from page likes." Every time I do this, though, I get the following message: "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later." I've been trying this "later" for months now and it's getting frustrating. Is this happening to anyone else? Any workarounds, recommendations, commiseration? THANK YOU!
