Hey, reddit stalker here. I recently signed up for Uber, but was told I needed something proving that I'm a driver, where the car is in my mom's name. When she went to get said document, she was refused the document and told that I can't drive for Uber with their insurance (Nationwide) because, as she says she was told, no one aside from the drivers listed on the policy should be in the car. Makes absolutely no sense. By that logic my boyfriend and daughter, friends, etc shouldn't even be allowed IN the vehicle, right? We've had issues with Nationwide in the past anyways (such as paying the wrong garage for work done and refusing to accept responsibility, leaving me with no vehicle for over a week, getting shitty attitudes with us if we go in person to ask questions, etc) so I'm ready to tell them to fuck off.
So I'm looking to switch insurance to Geico, and was wondering what others' experience with them is. They're a good $30 cheaper than Nationwide, at $70, and they're the only other option around here I can afford (State Farm quoted me at over $300 ?? for basic coverage).Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just a bit confused about it. Do I need commercial insurance (I imagine that's probably more expensive.. ugh), is there a ride sharing insurance? Just regular old insurance coverage? No idea how any of this works for ride sharing. TIA
Updating to say that I'm aware no one else should be driving the car other than her and myself, I'm the only one who drives the car anyways. Wouldn't trust anyone else to lol
